Gibson SG
Gibson's SG body style was introduced in 1961 as a redesign of the single cutaway Les Paul, which had been around since '52. The new SG body models carried the Les Paul name into 1963, when Les Paul's contract with Gibson expired. In late '63, the Les Paul Standard and Les Paul Custom became the SG Standard and SG Custom. By '68, Les Paul was back with Gibson, the original single-cut LP models were reintroduced, and all was right in the world. The SG continued on it's own, and as this '69 SG attests, had great looks to go with it's impressive, unique sound!
